Covid was not good for much, but it did allow us to reflect on ourselves, and how we all got to this precipice of total insanity. It was also an opportunity to record some cover versions of our favorite songs!

a thousand riffs

We have a lot of demos. No, I mean like upwards of a thousand riffs, song ideas, often fully flashed and recorded on pretty decent gear. But not quite finished.

The problem with self producing is that there is nobody prodding you to JUST FINISH THE DAMN THING and conversely you are stuck out there in the garage, listening to the song for the 8 millionth time, thinking, "but what if there was a key change in the bridge?"

Add to this the fact that we have not all seen each other in person since the pandemic, and you can start to see our conundrum. We email each other tracks all the time, but in order to finish a thing, we'll have to be together, playing in unison, and hearing it ourselves.

I miss these guys. I miss playing in front of fresh faces.

There are very good reasons that we are in this situation (mostly because of me) but those good, perfectly valid reasons can't dull the intense longing for that brotherhood of noise.

I shall elaborate further on this.

Dispatches From The Void

I’ll be damned. Turns out that my band’s website has a blog feature.

This is already a more creative space than social media. It feels like a garage or a studio. There’s no algorithm feeding me nonsense, and demanding a constant reaction.

No, this is just the terror of the blank page. The eternal void of bone crushing loneliness and grief that will hopefully breathe a few halfway decent ideas into existence.

I don’t know who will be reading this, maybe just me (Jason here!) but at the very least I can use it to try out new ideas and discuss anything and everything to do with INTERSTELAR.
